Biography :Charmaine Condappa is a very innovative and creative teacher, currently working at the Helen Betty Osborne Ininiw Education Resource Centre. She teaches chemistry to grades 9-12, preparing lesson plans and educating students. She assigns homework, grades tests and documents her students’ progress, coordinating the science fairs and promoting environmental awareness.
Currently, she is dedicated to teach secondary school science to students in a First Nations community in North Canada. As a teacher, she is also a member of the Professional Learning Community and part of the Positive Intervention Behaviour and Support team of the school.
At the community level, she teaches computer skills to Band members at the University College of the North in Microsoft Word processing, Internet Protocols and Introduction to Microsoft Excel.
Charmaine earned her Diploma in Teaching and Bachelor Degree in Management Studies in Jamaica. Later on she earned a Masters in Science Education and more recently a doctorate in Higher Education. She was a recipient of the Crystal Apple award. Looking ahead, she plans to continue in her role as an educator and help mold her students, guiding them down the path to success. She is especially interested in helping to contribute and make an impact in the greater First Nation Community. She believes that hard work, her passion and drive are the key to her success.
